  Burnout detection

  Grounding points in the power system: Wiring harness burnout often correlates with grounding points; for example, partial burning of the battery cable should be inspected for burrs on the contacts, while complete burnout may indicate a starter motor failure.

  Generator-to-starter wiring harness: After stopping the generator, connect the battery to the generator’s positive terminal with a power cable. A spark indicates a generator fault; no spark suggests a wiring‑harness fault.

  IV. Maintenance Schedule and Preventive Replacement

  Regular inspections:

  Vehicles that are more than two years old must undergo wiring system maintenance, with the wiring harness inspected and serviced every 40,000 kilometers.

  Clean the engine compartment and wiring harness every six months to one year to slow down aging.

  Life expectancy reference:

  Typical wiring harnesses have a service life of about 10 years; vehicles older than five years should undergo more frequent inspections. Wiring harnesses in high-temperature areas degrade more rapidly.

  Precautions for Replacement Operations

  Pre‑installation inspection: Before replacement, verify that there are no short circuits or open circuits, that connectors are intact, that terminals are free of corrosion, and that no other electrical equipment malfunctions have been identified.
